The start of a new year is often a good time for companies to rethink current business strategy and suppliers.

And we’ll be doing exactly that at VDC Group to ensure we continue to bring our customers some of the best deals around when it comes to DVD and CD duplication and replication techniques for private or commercial projects in the music and entertainment industries, as well as the corporate sector.

We would never compromise on quality however. Not that this is a particular problem today thanks to the vast range of sophisticated state-of-the-art CD replication and DVD duplication equipment available.

The latest – and most impressive – in copying techniques is Blu-ray technology. This is where a blue laser is used to read the disc rather than the longer wavelength red laser which is currently used for DVDs.

We have been using this for some time now at VDC Group and were in fact, the first duplication and replication company in the UK to introduce it to the market. This technique ensures you can actually look forward to watching 3D high definition movies at home. A range of 3D TVs and Blu-ray players are already being produced and here at VDC Group we have the Blu-ray CD mastering and replication equipment.

Hollywood is producing more and more 3D movies as time goes on. Recent big hit Blu-ray releases include Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Midnight in Paris and Kung Fu Panda 2. The high storage capacity of Blu-ray means its not just the films themselves that viewers can look forward to, but also ‘extras’ such as pre and post-movie interviews and shots which never made it to the film’s final edit.

Although Blu-ray’s first official release was in the summer of 2006, it’s only as time has gone on that the technology has developed to its current jaw-dropping standards. In fact, this summer a census showed there were more than 2,500 movies available to rent or buy on Blu-ray discs both in the UK and Australia. The biggest consumer countries is America and Canada with 3,500 sold then Japan with 3,300 titles produced. Those in the entertainment industry are under no illusions that Blu-ray isn’t just here to stay, but is a market leader. It is already being adopted far faster than DVD when that technology first appeared on the scene.

Look out too for the mini blu-ray disc – a compact 8cm disc which is similar concept-wise to the MiniDVD. Recordable versions have already been produced for camcorders and similar tiny recording devices with excellent results.
