Portable media is still an incredibly essential asset within the digital world and CDs and DVDs are still widely used by many different people for a variety of reasons.
Whether it’s to burn images to a disc for use on another form of media or simply a way for businesses to send a larger amount of data to their clients, it is clear to see that portable media isn’t going anywhere fast.
This is why it is incredibly important to think about the quality of the disc that you will be creating and using. This isn’t just referring to the physical disc itself, it also means that the content you put on the disc and how it will be presented also matters.
The Production Process
We’ve seen some great quality discs through our CD duplication process, so we know that even though the content might be great, the production of the CD and its copies plays a huge role in the quality of the resulting disc at the end.
Disc mastering is a great way to ensure that all the discs that you will be creating will all be of a standard high quality. This is because the mastering process involves the replication of the discs from a source rather than burning each disc separately.
During the mastering process, each disc will be checked to ensure that it works and any that are found to contain glitches will be discarded.
The Casing and Cover
Not only does the physical copy of your disc need to be of a high quality, the way in which you present your disc also needs to be thought about, especially if you are handing it out to clients or the public.
Think about the design of both the CD label and the CD case artwork and incorporate the content of the disc into the design somehow.
Initial impressions are incredibly important, especially with DVDs and CDs as the case artwork will be the very first thing that they will come into contact with. If your artwork is bland and uninviting, people are less likely to want to open it and find out what is on your disc.
You want to aim to stand out from the rest of the discs that a person may own and ultimately get your target audience to pick up your disc and actively want to find out what is on it.
